The Yellowstone Wolf Project: |
The Yellowstone wolf project is an exciting way to motivate young students to better grasp concepts in science and ecology. By following the adventure of a single gray wolf or wolf pack, students will learn about wildlife survival strategies and behaviors, predator and prey interaction, habitat and environmental influences. This project will allow students to learn and interact with world class wildlife scientists (see Education Team). While the wolf will be center stage, students will learn about other species, geological features, plants, and climate conditions that constitute the world of the gray wolf in Yellowstone.
(This is not planned as a sugar-coated experience. Students might receive a report their wolf was seen feasting on an elk, or chased off by a grizzly bear from a carcass, or unable to keep pace with their pack and appearing weak. This program will reflect a scientific approach in presenting observations and encouraging conclusions based on facts) |
